FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
What Carehood is, what it isn't, and how it keeps people safe. If you don't see your question, just ask.
What is Carehood?
Carehood is a neighbor-to-neighbor care network. We turn local generosity into practical, non-clinical support — rides, supplies, equipment, groceries, and check-ins — for people facing illness, recovery, aging, or medical hardship.
Is Carehood a medical provider?
No. Carehood is not a clinic and does not provide medical care. We help with the practical barriers around care, not the care itself.
Can Carehood give medical advice?
No. We don't provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or clinical interpretation. For anything medical, please talk to a licensed provider. In an emergency, call 911.
Who can submit a Care Request?
Requests come through trusted community partners — clinics, senior centers, churches, schools, shelters, and community health workers — or from individuals and families. Partners help us verify that a need is real and appropriate.
What kinds of requests are eligible?
Practical, non-clinical needs: transportation to appointments, recovery equipment, basic supplies, groceries during recovery, pharmacy pickup support, and volunteer check-ins. We can't fund medical bills, prescriptions, or emergency care.
Can I donate prescription medication?
No. For everyone's safety, Carehood never accepts, stores, or distributes prescription or opened medications. The Care Closet only handles clean, safe equipment and unopened basic supplies.
How are requests verified?
A partner or Carehood coordinator confirms the request is genuine and within what we can safely help with, then decides whether it's best met with funds, donated supplies, or a volunteer.
How is privacy protected?
We collect the minimum necessary, anonymize public Care Requests (showing only the practical need and a general neighborhood), and limit who can access sensitive submissions. We never publish identifying or medical details.
Can I volunteer?
Yes — and you don’t need experience. Fill out the volunteer form and we’ll match you to roles and availability that fit your life.
Can my organization partner?
Absolutely. Clinics, congregations, schools, and community groups can refer needs, host drives, or bring volunteer teams. Start a partner conversation.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Carehood is currently building its pilot. Tax-deductibility depends on fiscal sponsorship or nonprofit status. This section will be updated once formal status is confirmed.
