Privacy Policy

We collect as little as possible, and protect what we collect.

Carehood works with people during vulnerable moments. Privacy isn't a legal afterthought here — it's part of the care.

Draft policy — to be finalized with legal counsel before launch.

The short version

We ask for the minimum information needed to help. We don’t sell data. We anonymize public Care Requests. And we don’t request medical details we don’t need.

What we collect

When you submit a form — a Care Request, volunteer signup, supply donation, partner inquiry, donation interest, or contact message — we collect what you provide: typically a name, contact details, a general location, and a description of the practical need or offer.

How we use it

We use your information to verify and coordinate practical support, to follow up with you, and to operate and improve Carehood. Partners and volunteers only receive what they need to help with a specific request.

Public Care Requests are anonymized

When a Care Request is shown publicly, it includes only the practical need and a general neighborhood. We never publish names, contact details, medical conditions, or other identifying information.

What we don't ask for

We do not request diagnoses, medical records, or clinical details that aren’t necessary to arrange practical support. Please don’t send protected health information you weren’t asked for.

Who can see sensitive submissions

Access to sensitive submissions is limited to the Carehood team members and partners directly involved in coordinating that request. We take reasonable steps to keep this information secure.

Your choices

You can ask us to update or delete information you’ve shared, or ask what we hold, by emailing hello@carehood.org.

Carehood does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency services, or prescription medications. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical care.
