Terms & Safety

How Carehood works — and the lines we won't cross.

Clear boundaries are what make a neighbor-to-neighbor network safe and trustworthy. Here's how we keep it that way.

Draft terms — to be finalized with legal counsel before launch.

Carehood is not a medical provider. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency services, or prescription medications. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical care.

What Carehood does

Carehood coordinates practical, non-clinical support around health moments — transportation, recovery equipment, basic supplies, groceries, pharmacy pickup support, and volunteer check-ins — by connecting verified needs with donors, volunteers, donated supplies, and local partners.

What Carehood does not do

We do not diagnose, treat, or advise on medical conditions; administer or distribute medication; provide emergency response; or perform tasks that require a licensed professional. Carehood is a complement to professional healthcare, never a replacement for it.

Volunteer boundaries

Carehood volunteers help with practical, non-clinical barriers only. They do not provide diagnosis, treatment, emergency response, or medical advice. Volunteers in direct-support roles may be asked to complete a background check and agree to our safety boundaries before being matched.

No prescription medication or unsafe items

Carehood and the Care Closet never accept, store, or distribute prescription or opened medications, invasive medical devices, or unsafe or broken equipment. Donated items are cleaned and inspected before reuse.

Eligibility and verification

Care Requests are submitted through trusted partners or individuals and verified before they’re fulfilled. We may decline or modify a request that falls outside what we can safely help with.

Donations

Gifts support Carehood’s programs and the practical needs described on this site. Carehood is building its pilot; tax-deductibility depends on fiscal sponsorship or nonprofit status and will be confirmed separately. See the FAQ.

Limits of responsibility

Carehood works in good faith to coordinate help, but cannot guarantee that every request will be fulfilled or that volunteers, partners, or donated items will meet every expectation. Use of this site and our services is at your own discretion, and does not create a clinical or professional relationship.

Changes to these terms

We’ll update these terms as Carehood grows and as our legal status is confirmed. Material changes will be reflected here.
